Choosing the Right Toolbox

lund-tool.jpg
As a professional trade contractor
Whether you work as a contractor, plumber, HVAC specialist, or electrician, you can’t do the job without your tools. Keeping them well organized, safe, and accessible is also crucial to the success of business. With all you have invested in your tools, it only makes sense. Careless storage and transportation can damage and destroy them. And most everyone knows the frustration of searching in vain for tools that seemingly disappear.

The right toolbox.
Now that’s the ticket! Are you in need of adequate or additional tool and supply storage for your transport vehicle? Not only a thing of gleaming steel beauty, the toolbox is a necessary basic for professional contractor. At Creech Ladder Center, we’ve created a handy guide to help you choose the best toolbox(s) for your needs.

4 BASIC SIZE & STYLE OPTIONS

  • When evaluating toolbox options, it’s important to consider what size and style that’s needed. The four primary options include:

Single lid cross box
Extends the full width of the truck bed and mounts with no-drill brackets. The single lid is secure and rugged, and allows for full access to the whole box at one time. The low profile allows for an unobstructed rear view for the driver. Works with most commercial pickup trucks.

Double lid cross box
Also extends the full width of the truck bed and mounts with no-drill brackets. Double lids allows for separation of tools, but still enables technicians access to what they need from either side of the box. Very durable as well.

Side boxes
Offer more lid-seating surface than single- and double-lid boxes. Extra protection against the elements is provided by a bulb weather seal. Reinforced “U”-channel edge adds structural strength.

Underbody boxes
Free up truck bed space and store tools safely and securely - perfect for anyone who needs additional bed space. Stainless steel underbody boxes are durable, sturdy, and spacious enough to hold all of your vital tools.

extension ladderjpg

Here it comes…
You may not feel it yet, but that “Brrrrr!” is about to make a comeback. You know what that means: fall home maintenance season is about to be in full swing! It’s time to finish and wrap up summer projects, and begin the arduous task of readying your home and lawn for the coming winter. There’s so much to do! Of course, whatever you do, you want to make sure that you and any helpers are able to  keep yourselves safe in the process. That’s why we’ve put together this list of 5 fall home maintenance safety tips.

1)  Check home fire extinguishers and replace any that have expired.

2) Change and test batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors on November 1st, daylight savings time.

3)   Always clear your driveway and walkways of leaves, as they are often slippery when wet.

4)   Wear work gloves when doing outdoor work for maximum protection.

5)  Exercise extra caution when climbing ladders for fall projects, such as cleaning gutters or repairing windows. It’s not uncommon for shoes or boots that have become wet to cause you to slip and potentially fall as you climb the ladder.

3 Tips for Preventing House Damage

gutter.jpg

As a professional contractor, you take pride in your work. That’s why you invest in quality tools to get the job done right. But just as important as quality tools is the knowledge to use them safely and properly. Without proper understanding of how to most safely and effectively use them, ladders can cause an unfortunate amount of damage to a finished house. Creech Ladder Center can outfit you with not only the best quality tools, but also the right accessories to greatly reduce the risk of damage or injury.

1) LADDER CLAMPS, STRAPS, AND ANCHORS - It happens when you least expect it: a strong gust of wind from out of nowhere, or an unexpected bump, and suddenly, the ladder is lurching dangerously toward the window, or your crew. Unsecured ladders are dangerous. Using ladder clamps, straps, and anchors will prevent unnecessary damage and injury.

2) LADDER MITTS - Although most ladders are standardly produced with protective plastic tips, their effectiveness is limited, and still tend to leave marks or dents on siding and trim. Ladder mitts are a great defense against this problem.

3) LADDER STANDOFF STABILIZERS - Avoid accidentally marking your work area with dents, scratches, and creases, especially sometimes fragile rain gutters. A ladder standoff stabilizer, also called a spreader, is a simple U-shaped or C-shaped aluminum brace designed to keep the ladder off the wall. Typically, stabilizers are one piece, 40 in. or 48 in. wide, with a standoff of 10” or 12”, attaching to the ladder rungs with U-bolts and wing nuts. Stabilizers can allow you to reach the most delicate roof with your weight resting on the wall below. Some also have large round pads that spread the load over a larger area. It is important the tips are rubberized to protect painted surfaces.

Contact Creech Ladder Center Today! We offer everything you need for your professional services from top, trusted manufacturers like Louisville Ladder Company and Little Giant. Questions about what kinds of accessories will best serve you and your crew on the jobs you do? Just give us a call or stop in.
